Hog Roast Whetstone Loves Supporting Great Causes!

Here at Hog Roast Whetstone, we never pass up the chance to give something back to our community, so when Gary approached us with a booking request for a charity football event he had planned in the next town over, we jumped at the opportunity to get involved!

Gary had put the event together with the intention of raising awareness and funds for men’s mental health, and he wanted our caterers to be there to serve everyone who attended a fantastic meal. And as always, Hog Roast Whetstone rose to the occasion!

From the selection of menu choices we have available, the client opted for our Southern Slow Roast Menu, which presents an epic combination of lip-smacking flavours that are inspired by authentic American cuisine. This menu proved perfect for the kind of laid-back, informal and welcoming vibe that Gary had been hoping to create, and the variety of food on offer meant that every set of taste buds was adequately catered to at this event.

Hog Roast Whetstone With our catering manager, Alex, leading the team, Hog Roast Whetstone presented the client and his ticket holders with a show-stopping spread last Saturday afternoon, which consisted of Cajun-spiced whole roast chickens, fall off the bone Louisiana sticky pork ribs and Texan 24 hour beef brisket with BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls as the meat-free option and sides of Memphis style crunchy coleslaw, a mix of sweet potato and regular fries and indulgent and creamy potato salad. Gluten-free rolls and wraps were also served in baskets on the buffet table alongside sauces and dips for the guests to help themselves to.

The 95 people who attended the charity function were asked to pay a small fee of £7 per head, or £5 for children, which Gary put towards the cost of the event and the profits were added to the donation pot for a charity that primarily focuses on helping men battling mental illness. To help raise more money for Gary’s chosen cause, the client had organised a raffle as well as different entertainment options and workshop events following the football match, which encouraged the guests to donate more money throughout the day.
