Moving to a new country can be an exciting adventure, but it can also come with a touch of homesickness, especially during important holidays. Such is the case for Abby, who recently moved to the UK, leaving behind her family in the United States. When Thanksgiving was just around the corner, and with it being her first time spending the cherished holiday away from her loved ones, the homesickness was hitting Abby hard, so her friend group has decided to create a heartwarming surprise.
One of Abby’s friends, Cameron, reached out to Hog Roast Globe Town with a special request, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to assist in making this thoughtful gesture a reality. Abby’s friends wanted to bring the cherished US tradition of Thanksgiving right to her doorstep. And Hog Roast Globe Town’s catering manager, Dohnis, took the reins to ensure that this heartfelt plan that was executed seamlessly, leaving no room for error.
We also served our delectable Festive Menu to Abby and her friend group, offering a tantalising taste of Thanksgiving with a touch of British flair. The star of the show was a succulent turkey, roasted over real flames until it was tender and juicy. It was served with fresh cranberry sauce and sage and onion stuffing, evoking the warmth of a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
To accommodate dietary preferences, we also provided a meat-free alternative – grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers – a perfect fit for any vegetarian palate.
When it comes to the sides, we thought of everything. The menu included pigs in blankets, seasonal vegetables, homemade cauliflower cheese, and roasted potatoes, all drenched in delicious gravy. These festive staples transported Abby back home.
But the sweetest part of the experience was the thoughtful dessert adjustment Cameron had requested. Instead of traditional mince pies, we served cheesecake topped with cream and fresh fruit, a nod to Thanksgiving traditions with a delightful twist.
Hog Roast Globe Town is loved catering this event, as we knew it will be a heartfelt celebration, uniting friends and providing Abby with a taste of home during the special time. Thanksgiving is all about expressing gratitude and celebrating togetherness, and we were honoured to play a part in this touching gesture. We hope that Abby had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and the comforting flavours of home.
