Hog Roast Hampstead had a wonderful time celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee earlier this month! As the first British Monarch to achieve 70 years on the throne, the special anniversary encouraged people all over the UK to commemorate the occasion either by attending official events or by hosting their own.
Here in North London, Julia and her family had been keen to mark the date by following along with the TV broadcasts and chowing down on a feast fit for royalty. And as luck would have it, Hog Roast Hampstead was free right when they needed us to be!
After giving our catering manager, Alex, the rundown on the size of the event and budget, Julia was introduced to the perfect menu for her needs: the Classic Hog Roast. This signature spread, which comprises a whole slow-roasted pig with all the trimmings, side salad options and a variety of rolls was spot on for her party.
On the day of the Jubilee, Hog Roast Hampstead’s caterers traversed through the busy streets in our iconic van until they reached Julia’s abode. Once there, they quickly unpacked the cooking equipment and ingredients for the meal and began setting up in the client’s back garden.
It took our team several hours to prepare the banquet for Julia and her 30 guests, but no one could deny that it was well worth waiting for! The juicy, fork-tender pork and flavoursome stuffing tasted incredible when paired with the crispy crackling and applesauce and packed onto the gluten-free rolls. The fresh-tasting and brightly coloured salads were a big hit too, and with meat-free skewers on offer for the veggie and vegan guests, everyone’s diets were catered to accordingly.
As an added extra, Julia had asked the Hog Roast Hampstead crew to end the meal with a hot drinks service. This saw our caterers serve a buffet of tea, coffee and hot chocolate to the guests along with a dessert option of either vacherins of strawberries with passion fruit cream or a delicious slice of traditional Victoria sponge cake with fresh cream and ripe berries.
