A wedding is as unique as the couple getting married. And with that in mind, we know that not every bride and groom out there dreams of having a traditional, princess-style ceremony, complete with the ivory-white dress, soft-toned colour schemes, elegant accents and a playlist of chart-topping bops. Some brides and grooms, like Hog Roast Ponders End’s most recent clients, Owen and Kat, instead want their personal interests and hobbies to be reflected in their big day.
For this rock n’ roll obsessed pair, this meant embracing all aspects of the rocker subculture, so for their wedding day, they had booked an atmospheric room in a castle for their ceremony and a nearby barn for the after-party. They had also decided on a classic hog roast buffet with additional finger food options for the main meal, which suited the laid-back vibe that Owen and Kat wanted their day to have.
Determined to impress the music-loving duo, Hog Roast Ponders End spent all morning preparing a delicious spread, which consisted of a combination of different elements. These included charcuterie boards that overflowed with deli meats, cheeses, artisan bread, olives, sundried tomatoes and breadsticks, along with buttery corn cobettes, flavour-bursting gourmet coleslaw, well-seasoned roast potatoes, mixed fries and salad. At the centre of everything was, of course, one of our large pigs, which had been scored and prepped with salt and water before being left to cook on the rotisserie for 6 hours. Our team also provided dessert options of chocolate torte and summer pudding, as well as our wedding cake service, wherein we slice and dress the cake with fresh berries and cream.
Shortly after exchanging vows, the newlyweds rocked up to the reception in the iconic 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville, which had the guests virtually scraping their jaws off the floor! Also matching the theme was the dining furniture. Each of the dinner tables was centred around the theme of a famous rock star, such as Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper, Janis Joplin or, the king himself, Elvis Presley. This subtle feature not only helped guests navigate the seating chart with ease, but it really helped to make the celebration feel more cohesive.
With everyone in attendance, Hog Roast Ponders End opened up the buffet to the guests, who excitedly piled their plates with a little bit of everything before coming back for seconds, thirds and for some, fourths!
